THE TIME MAGAZINE AND ITS EYE- OPENER COVER

 Good morning, everyone!

Have you seen the cover of the TIME magazine for its April issue? it is a picture of a sculpture made of 50.000 green- tipped matchsticks that represent the world.

Once this sculpture was made, the artist Red Hong Yi and her team set the whole thing on fire, in an attempt to show how the global climate crisis touches all of us, regardless of where we live.

Check out this article for more info on this cover (click on the image below):

I FORGOT MY PHONE, A SHORT FILM BY CHARLENE DE GUZMÁN

This short about our addition to screens is an "oldie but goodie". I love watching it with students because it's just images, so it's adaptable to almost any level. And it packs up punch!

The New York Times also published a list of discussion questions related to the film:

HOUSES OF THE FUTURE

Have you ever thought about what our houses might look like in the future, taking into account new technologies, health and environmental concerns? Here are two TED talks on the topic which could serve as an excellent introduction to a chool project about green living, imagining the future of design.

TED is an amazing resource for class because of the short duration, variety of topics and accents, and transcript and subtitle functions.
