DIGITAL NOMADS

Hi everyone!

As you know with the advent of new technology and globalization, the number of remote workers (also known as digital nomads) looking for freedom and flexibility is growing, so there are many countries launching special visas to catch those workers.

Do you want to know which destinations in Europe are paying digital nomads to work there?

A HEALTHIER DIET, A HEALTHIER WORLD

 Hi!

We all seem to have an idea of what a healthy diet should be, but to what extent do we follow it? This video might help your students to think about the importance of eating healthily.

HEALTHY LIFESTYLES: THEN AND NOW

Do you believe that we lead a less healthy life than our grandparents did?

This video seems to suggest that we do. What differences do you see between "grandpa's" lifestyle and that of his grandson? Do you think this is an accurate representation of how people live today as opposed to sixty years ago? And why do you think Coca- Cola would make an advertisement promoting a healthy lifestyle, when Coke is a very unhealthy product?

CLIMATE REFUGEES

 Hi everyone,

Today I want to share with you an interesting article I have just come across with. The article deals with some islanders living in the North Coast of Australia who have filed a court claim against the Australian government for not taking sufficient actions to prevent climate change from harming their local area and, thus, their living.

What is interesting is that some years ago the environmental group Ugenda Foundation did the same against the government of the Netherlands for not doing enough to protect Dutch citizens from climate change, and the Dutch Supreme Court finally ruled that the goverment had to cut carbon emissions faster than planned. According to the Suprome court, the government can be held legally accountable for not taking enough actions to stop a forseeable harmful situation.

Pretty interesting, isn't it? Click on the photo below to read the article:

THE GLASGOW CLIMATE CONFERENCE

 Hi everyone,

As you all probably know the Glasglow Climate Conference is about to start, and the question that remains is.... are we really aware of the extent to which our planet has been affected by Climate Change? 200 countries have been asked to put forward their plans to reduce emissions by 2030.

Here's an article giving an overview of the summit

ARE NATIONS LOBBYING TO CHANGE CLIMATE REPORTS?

 Hi there,

You might be shocked (although probably not 100% surprised) to read this article. There's so much focus on what we, the individuals, can do to help the environment, that we might overlook that unless politicians and industry leaders change their outloook, it may all be for nothing. We can only hope that environmental issues become vote changing policy (like in Germany in the last elections), so that this issue is seriously addressed.
